Is there such a thing as love?
Such that one could sing about?
You nod, but how could you know?
You insist, but no need to shout.

I'm looking at you with glass eyes
But you can't read the signs
"Don't tap on the fish tank"
You see, my soul already sank

An abyss resides within my mind
My capacity for feeling, leaving
I'm afraid you've been left behind
Yet you chase me, foolishly believing

That you could somehow save me
But darling, that can never be
For I have left the world I know
In order to venture where you cannot go

And so, you hold my body close
Though it no longer holds you so
Your tears will be simply swallowed
Into the hole, where I now lay, low

Below darkest depths of the unknown
Beyond anything you have ever known
Though I appear here, I'm long gone
And you, my dear, must move on

Is there such a thing as love?
Such that you or I could know?
You say yes, with all your heart
But even though you wish it so

My heart has turned to stone
Hate to admit it, but this was totally inspired by The Book of Life. I thought it was cheesy, yet (begrudgingly) heartwarming... And so I wrote this depressing poem based off it. Enjoy!

Depressing or not, it's a question I've been asking for many years now.
"Is there a such thing as love?"

Nowadays, I've believed that we construe the meaning of love to the point it holds no meaning to us anymore. But, I won't get too much into that...

I really enjoyed it, though. Congrats! :D
